Water Tower Kent
A project that was followed by Channel 4’s Grand Designs, this is a unique home converted from a water tower that was designed by renowned British architect Edwin Lutyens. The building was in the garden of the owner’s original home, a gamekeeper’s cottage. Made into a raised ’sanctuary’ the finished article offers an efficient use of every inch of space and a highly-original modern home. The Water Tower sits on the top of a hill, and looms above you when you arrive on site. This stilted house looks completely at home in amongst the trees. I particularly liked the clever use of boxed windows, which looked good, but also had a practical value by enabling the floor space to be extended. Previous Next Featured in: 25 Beautiful Homes
